Sheriff Lamar is dead following a one car accident on highway 7, south of Oxford. He left a suicide note, stating he, "sacrificed too much to live as an honorable man." Preliminary investigation indicates he had been drinking. There were no signs of a struggle.

A note was found on the desk in Lamar's study at his home. The note was left on the center of the desk blotter and was the only item on the desk top, aside from a family photograph.
