Monday, December 1, 1997 Guest: Robert Gilbert, Developer of Dickerson Business Park Opening Remarks: Good evening. I'd like to start off tonight by clearing my name of this whole mess. I had no idea about this dumping business. I am outraged by the whole affair! I feel like I've been victimized, and have a very hard time believing that Chambeau knew anything about this. I've been trying to get a hold of him for days now, but he's out of town so all I've been able to do is leave message after message! What makes me the most outraged over all this hooplah, is that I went into this partnership with the intent of developing a business park. I still want to do that! But with all this nonsense about the dumping, I may not even get to do this project! I have a lot of my time and money invested in this project, I stand to lose a lot if this continues. This has put a real strain on me. I mean, what if they put this on hold indefinitely and I never get to do the park? I'll be out of a lot of money here! I'm sorry. I don't mean to be so rude. But this is very irritating for me. I can't help but be angry about this, especially when I had nothing to do with it. If you ask me, it's a conspiracy and everyone is in on it. I want another agency to look into these supposed findings that Oxford Green reported. I don't believe that their test results are valid, and I want someone else to test the soil. But I have to get a hold of Chambeau on that because he owns the land and he has to make the final decision on that. I've tried getting a hold of him, but unfortunately he's out of town. All, I've been able to do is leave message after message. Anyway, I'm sorry to have rambled like this, but I am very angry over the whole mess. If I can answer questions now. Question and Answer session: Q: How come you didn't see the barrels on the property? A: Well, I don't own the property myself. Chambeau owns the property. I just want to develop on his land. I have plans for a business park in that locale. It wasn't like that when I first looked at the property, anyway. Aside, from that, I've had other projects I've been working on, so I hadn't been out there in a while. I didn't feel I needed to. Q: How did you meet Chambeau and who introduced you to him? A: Chambeau owns a lot of the property out here, and he heard about a project I was working on developing. This business park I'm working on. We'd seen each other at some functions in town, and he heard about the plans through some people. So he approached me on it. Q: What other projects did/do you share with Chambeau? A: Well, I am working on the Wal Mart project with him, but that was pretty much it at the moment. Q: Did you approach A&A Detective Agency with your problem? A: No, I hadn't. I didn't know of any problems until the Oxford Green got involved, and they hired A&A. I haven't had anything to do with any of the investigations. I didn't even know about the dumping until recently. Q: Does Chambeau own any of the following properties? Nite Kap, Moonlight Cafe, or Willards? A: I'm not really sure who owns those properties...he might. Q: What typewriters might you have at home and in your office? A: I don't have a typewriter at home. I have an HP Pavillion. As for the office...I think we have a word processor, but I don't use it, my secretary does. Q: Who is in charge of Oxford Green and what would they have to gain by polluting the project? A: I have a hunch that the person has it in for Chambeau, and wants to see our project destroyed. I'm not even sure Oxford Green was involved with the dumping...I think that possibly someone else did the dumping and called them in on it to check it out. I mean, they are just an environmental agency. I don't think they'd really have anything to gain. I think it's outside the agency. Some other land developer or owner who doesn't like Chambeau or something. But I think they did the dumping and then called in the Agency. The whole thing smells of conspiracy. I think people are being paid off, and I'm talking higher ups...like politicians and government employees. Something weird is going on here. I'm not even sure the test results that the Oxford Green came up with are even substantial. I want other people...outside people to come in and check this all out. Q: Does it seem like someone was trying to prevent your obtaining the EIR? A: Yes! I have been putting up with delays for months now. That's why I've been doing smaller projects in my spare time. I've got a lot invested here, and every time I turn around they are delaying the Report. That's why I'm convinced that there are people being bought off...people in the local government seem to know more than they are saying about this whole mess. Q: Who have you told of your suspicions? Do you think anybody could've been eavesdropping? A: I haven't told anyone really. I wanted to discuss it with Chambeau when all this came about. But I can't get a hold of him because he's out of town. I've been frantic over the whole thing. I've left like fifteen messages for him. Q: What was the name of the environmental engineer who "up and quit", and where is he/she these days? A: There's a lawsuit pending and I can't really discuss the details on that. Q: Are you aware that Chambeau owned property in Emelle Al that was also a toxic waste dump? A: No, I was not. That is something that I will have to discuss with him. This whole thing is a disaster and there is something fishy about the whole affair. I need to talk to him to clear up some things. I just wish he were in town to discuss this fiasco with. Q: Was there conflict between you and Chambeau because you supported Lamar for Sheriff while he supported Mazza? A: Well, we had our political differences, but we never discussed it. I didn't even know that he was supporting Mazza. He and I have gotten along very well. Q: Is Senator Ivey (backer of Mazza) connected with any committees having to do with haz mat disposal, maybe looking for a no-questions locale for dumping? A: I'm not really sure to be honest with you. But I'm sure with the way things have been going for A&A and Oxford Green you could end up with that answer in just a few days. Q: How much money did you stand to loose and how much money did Chambeau have to gain if project failed? A: I have my accountants working on that right now, but with the way things are going I may just go under soon! <shaking head angrily> This is totally outrageous for me! The legal allegations are even worse than the money situation! I mean I think we've been had!!!!! The whole thing doesn't sit right! I didn't have ANYTHING do with this. NOTHING! Q: How long has Chambeau been on vacation? A: Chambeau's been gone since before the holidays. I've been trying to get in touch with him since all of this Oxford Green information came out. I keep leaving messages, but I keep missing him. I expect to hear from him really soon! I'm sure he's just as angry over this whole disaster as I am. Although, to be honest, I think that he should've already gotten in touch with me. It's driving me crazy that he hasn't gotten back to me, and he's got money invested too. I know that I called him first thing when all this broke out, and he STILL hasn't gotten back to me. Q: When you finally do get to talk to Chambeau, please...be a boyscout and secretly tape your conversations! A: I just might do that. Q: Have you ever seen Hal Harberson; if so, in what context? A: No, I've never seen the man. Look, I'm stressing out really big here. I don't really like to come unglued like that. So, if you don't mind, if I just step out and take a breather, Mickey? Mickey: Not at all. I think we can let you go for the night, Mr. Gilbert. Thank you for being here. Announcement: Considering all the incoming reports on Mr. Chambeau, we are promoting TV spots on Macy's disappearance to be run over a 7 state area in locations where Chambeau may have property. The Tip Line will be expanded and we are adding staff to handle the expected incoming calls. We hope that Macy can be recovered. We are afraid that now that the Sheriff is no longer alive she might be less valuable to possible kidnappers, for whatever reason. Watch for more updates and any breaking news. Tuesday, December 2, 1997 Guest: David Anderson, Armstrong & Anderson Investigations Opening Remarks: Evening everyone! Good to be back! How are you all? I'm here tonight to let you all in on the latest developments at A&A Investigations. We've sent the test results taken of the soil samples from the Dickerson Farm to the EPA. The EPA plans to send out their own field crew to test the site during the week of the 15th. There is a lawsuit pending, but the EPA won't institute it until after they've completed their own testing. I'm sorry to say that Armstrong won't be here tonight. He had some work he wanted to finish up on, so it'll just be me tonight. He sends his regards to you all though. Question and Answer session: Q: What is the lawsuit and who is it against? A: I believe EPA related lawsuits like this are handled by fencing off the property and suing the owner for clean up costs. But until they do their testing, the EPA will just be compiling data. At least that's how I understand these things to work. Q: Has the toxic waste dumped been cleaned up and do you know who was responsible for dumping it in the first place? A: Well, they can't clean it up until there has been a full investigation. The EPA needs to see the results first before it can even be determined as toxic, a crew will be sent to test the site. Usually these sort of lawsuits sue the owner of the property for the expenses of cleaning up the property plus additional damages and fines. The first step is to be certain of what's been dumped. Q: Has a list been prepared on Chambeau's holdings? If yes when will it be posted to your site? A: We're still compiling a list. We're trying to put it together as fast as we can. The only thing is, we don't know the full legalities of posting the list, so when we get the list together we'll have to check into that before we can post anything. It might take a while if we can even post it legally. Q: Are you going to investigate Chambeau's other properties to determine if they're a dump too? A: We only look into what we are being paid to investigate. Oxford Green would probably only pay us to look into properties in and around Oxford. Q: C/S Disposal are the dumpers, Chambeau is the property owner...any idea who the chemical manufacturers are? A: Not yet. We're looking into it, but we haven't found any names yet. When we get concrete evidence, you'll all know. Q: Who is behind Oxford Green, is there a president and list of members anywhere? A: It's an environmental group here in Oxford, but that's all I can tell you. Client confidentiality. I can't give out the names of the people I work for. It's a part of the company policy and state licensing that we cannot reveal our client's name/names. I am not at liberty to discuss anything about them. (NOTE: Oxford Green is a local environmentalist group, the Director is Donald Wallace who has spoken in Crime Scene chat before. His presentation is available on the A & A Investigations web page.) Q: This may have been asked and answered but, have you found any connection between the dumping site and Chuck Lamar? A: None that we have found, no. Q: Have you interviewed anybody dealing with C/S? A: Who would you go about interviewing? I mean employees? Who? So far as we can tell, only reputable companies have used them for disposal. We haven't gotten a hold of anyone who knows anything about this case, no. Q: Have you had opportunity to speak with Chambeau, Gilbert or Harberson about the case? A: We've talked with Gilbert...he doesn't know anything, and Chambeau is away, we haven't been able to reach him. Q: Dave do you know if there have been any sightings of Macy Lamar and if she knows her Dad is dead? A: I haven't heard anything, but I'm not working on that case. That's a question for Nelson, I'm sure. Q: Is this the first time Chambeau has been a suspect in a case? A: W don't have any documents on that. Though we have a contact at the Sheriff's office that might be able to provide us with some of the documentation on whether there have been past cases or charges against Chambeau. Q: Have you found any evidence that Chuck Lamar was involved in business dealings with Chambeau or Gilbert? A: No, we haven't found any actual connections to Lamar and Chambeau/Gilbert, but I suspect that there is a connection there somewhere. We just haven't got anything substantial or concrete on it. Q: Do you have any information on who owns C/S? A: No, we don't but we suspect the answer is hidden in many of the files and dealings between Chambeau and C/S. Maybe even in files of different deals between C/S and dumping corporations. It's all in the paper work. We just have to find it. (Note: C/S Disposal, Inc. ownership has subsequently been posted to the A & A Investigations web page.) Q: Does Chambeau have an e-mail address, maybe you could try e-mailing him? A: Chambeau has an e-mail, but just like the phone calls we've made, he's not responding. We've left messages at his home, his office, and e-mail. As many places as we can hope to get an answer from. He's just not giving any response. Q: Are there any other entrances to Dickerson property? A: Yes, there's a back entrance, but I've not been there. I've only heard about it from Armstrong. He's seen it. Q: Could you tell us if you think there was foul play involved in the Sheriff's death? A: Personally? I think that it's too coincidental...and there are just too many things that don't add up about Lamar's death. I don't really know how they are connected, but I think that they are...But that's just a personal opinion. Q: Do you think that Macy will ever be recovered? A: I'm not really sure, to be honest. I believe she's alive. So I think that there is a good chance of getting her back. Q: Have you found out anything about Chambeau's recent whereabouts? A: All we know of Chambeau's whereabouts is that he is not in Oxford. The guy up and disappeared. He's out of reach of phone calls...and people it seems. Q: Any idea at all how long the chemicals have been on the site? A: We're looking into findings on that. We haven't gotten any actual dates, but we know that the farm wasn't contaminated before Chambeau owned the property. Well, I have to be running. I have a meeting with Armstrong in a few. You all have a good night! Wednesday, December 3, 1997 Guest: FBI Special Agent Donna Hillman Note: Tonight's chat was interrupted with connection problems. Elizabeth Jones, Information Officer for the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Office presented from Agent Hillman's report at those times she was unable to maintain a connection. Opening Remarks: EJ: This is a report from the FBI, from Agent Donna Hillman on the incident November 20 in Memphis. Our guest for tonight, Agent Donna Hillman is having a hard time staying on-line tonight so I am going ahead and as she is able to join in that'll be great. Agent Hillman: Good evening ladies and gentlemen. It's a rough night here for me, the ISP here is giving me all sorts of problems. EJ, did you get my fax on the Memphis incident? Perhaps you can go ahead if I am unable to stay connected. Thank you. As you know, I'm heading an investigation into the abduction of Macy Lamar. We are officially classifying it as an abduction, and we are certain that she was seen in Memphis. I conducted an interview with Ms. Cousins, and she is a very reliable witness. She positively identified Macy at the apartment complex on November 20th. We have searched the apartment and there is physical evidence to prove that Macy was indeed there. These leads may be valuable if we can make an arrest, but we didn't find anything that could generate any present whereabouts. All we have to go on is the media campaign to help us along in our search. At this time, I will take your questions. Question and Answer session: Q: Let's start with the first one on the specific evidence found in the apartment. A: The search and lab report on the apartment did produce identifiable latent prints. We have confirmed that Macy Lamar was actually in the apartment from these prints. We also have an unidentified index finger and thumb print from the apartment. However there were no traces of blood or other substances in the unit. We didn't find any other physical evidence, but we do have evidence that people were in that apartment other than prints. Such as food in the refrigerator, soap and toiletries were found in the bathroom, we found fiber samples in the various furnishings, but nothing that we can determine as having any consequence to the case at this time. Q: Just what was so unusual about the apartment complex? Its ownership, maybe? Who owns the apartment complex where Macy was seen? A: The apartment complex is pretty standard. Neptune apartments is a 48 unit garden apartment complex. Two units are set aside for management purposes. Of the remaining 46 units, eight of the units are vacant. Building A in which the apartment in question is located has 3 vacancies. The complex is primarily composed of elderly and retired persons. The owner is Mr. Andriotti, who could not be reached for questions because he is out of the town at the moment. We believe he may be at his home on Grand Cayman. Q: Agent Hillman, what was the unusual element then? A: The fact that Andriotti has a place in Grand Cayman. The Caymans are known for money laundering. I find it odd that the apartment complex Macy was spotted at is owned by a man who lives most of the year in an area that is known for laundering. Q: Did anything pan out with the Tip Line "Macy sighting" in Hamilton, Alabama? A: Well, I plan on investigating that after we've totally finished with what we've found in Memphis. I plan to investigate that tip and any sightings that come in one at a time and go down the line with them. We may find a pattern to the sightings. Q: Have you compiled a list of the residents of the apartments? A: Yes, we've compiled a list and interviewed everyone in the complex. Many reported seeing the lights on and off in the apartment and seeing a black car. Though none of them noted the make or the license plate. Q: Since the ransom note referred to the card games I was wondering if the owners of the bars where cards were played had been questioned again or maybe the players? A: That investigation is in the local jurisdiction of the Sheriff's office. They will be following up on that lead. At this point Elizabeth Jones took over for Agent Hillman due to technical difficulties staying on line. Q: Agent Hillman, ever heard of the missing children trust that owns the Road House? A: The FBI is not currently involved in those bars investigations, but we will verify that for you. Q: Is there any evidence showing that ChildTrust actually helps families of missing kids? A: On ChildTrust, that one is one I'll have to check out. I was not personally aware of them. Q: How much information have you gather on Andriotti? Is he just a landlord or does he have other businesses? A: Andriotti and the Chambeau connection, there is more in this report. Andriotti owns Jordan Properties which is the owner of the Neptune apartments. The apartments are managed by Manor Realty which is in turn owned by Jordan. The property manager is Denise Castile she was interviewed and has tied Chambeau to Andriotti. She said that they were acquainted and that she has met him (Chambeau). He has been there, the last time was in March of this year, she has had no contact with Chambeau since that visit. It seems that Andriotti and Chambeau both went to Tulane. Q: Do you think Castile could've helped Chambeau with Dickerson? A: There is nothing in this report that relates to or addresses Dickerson. Q: What other information gathering does the FBI have to do in Memphis before checking out Hamilton? A: I think this report is all and they are finished there. The whole purpose of the media blitz was to bring in ads for more leads. Donna has explicitly stated that they (FBI) are feeling that time is running out and is one of the justifications for that media blitz. EJ: I have the list of the most recent sightings she gave me and the point in the report here is that they may show a pattern so the order is important. It goes like this: Tuscaloosa, AL, Knoxville, AL, Jackson MS, Athens, AL, Lewisburg, TN, Shelbyville TN. There are several calls from Jackson and several from Shelbyville. These are all since Thanksgiving. Q: Is the FBI investigating the ransom letter? A: They have it now, I believe. Q: Is the FBI working with Detective Nelson? A: Yes. There is communication between the Sheriff's Department and the FBI on the Macy Lamar case. Q: Has the department had any chance at all to speak with Chambeau? A: Yes. The FBI has had contact. What it says in this report is that he has been interviewed and, unfortunately, the conclusion is nothing really. So far there is insufficient evidence to tie him directly to any specific crime and that he continues to deny all knowledge of anything brought out to him. Another fact on the Memphis apartment it was not rented. The manager, Denise Castile, says it was supposed to be empty. Q: Has Aimee's house been searched for evidence? A: Aimee's house has not had an official warrant issued. It's been a frustration as there has been insufficient cause to issue a warrant. |
