AFFIDAVIT
STATE OF MISSISSIPPI

County of Yoknapatawpha

Your affiant, Detective Terrence Nelson, Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department, states as follows:

1. I, Detective Terrence Nelson, have been a Detective with the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Office for 15 years. I have 11 years investigative experience in the Crimes Against Persons Division including crime scene analysis training and experience.

2. On March 21, 1998 your affiant and other agents of the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department accompanied by a forensics team from the Jackson State Crime Lab, began the execution of a search warrant on the residence owned by Christian Chambers, located at 17 Virginia Street, Oxford, in the County of Yoknapatawpha. The premises is a brown, two story, wood shingle four-unit dwelling with parking lot. Number 17 is further described as being located to the parking lot end of the structure, entrance door on the ground level. The records of Yoknapatawpha County indicate that this property was deeded to Christian R. Chambers in 1996.

3. When peace officers knocked at the door, the premises had been vacated. Officers entered the premises by removing the entrance door. The items described herein constitute the results of this search.

4. I personally participated in the search. As set forth in detail below, during the search I observed evidence to indicate that the subject, Christian R. Chambers was involved in the homicide cases of victims Dale J. Taylor and Crystal M. Taylor.

5. The search produced one legally registered .12 gauge Ruger shotgun registered to Christian Chambers found wrapped in a blanket concealed in the back of a first floor kitchen storage pantry. Shotgun was taken into custody and examined by State Crime Lab ballistics expert, David Vogel who determined this weapon to be consistent with the weapon used in the murder of Dale J. Taylor. Blanket taken into custody for lab powder residue and fiber analysis.

6. Ammunition was found in a desk drawer as follows: Bismuth Winchester 12 gauge 3" shotshells, 4 in box. The shotshells found are distinctive and consistent with the bismuth residue found in soil and tissue analysis samples taken from the scene of the murder of Dale J. Taylor. Ammunition taken into custody and examined by State Crime Lab ballistics expert, David Vogel. Additional ammunition found: unopened box Winchester AA 2 3/4" Steel Target Loads.

7. In upstairs north bedroom computer equipment including cpu, 15" monitor, inkjet printer, diskettes, CD's and backup tapes were taken into custody. E-mail records support discussions with witness Hotchkiss.

8. Recent correspondence and address book were removed from the desk in the second floor north bedroom.

9. In upstairs south bedroom evidence of rapid flight was found including open dresser drawers and clothing strewn about the room. Two pair of shoes were taken into custody from under the bed, a pair of Nike athletic shoes and from the closet a pair of timberline boots. Additional clothing was taken from the laundry hamper and dresser including a stained fisherman knit sweater, several pair of jeans, two pair of gloves.

10. Found under the pillow on the bed in the south bedroom was an 18 kt. gold pendant and chain matching the description of that belonging to victim, Dale J. Taylor. Item has been tested for prints and those of subject Christian Chambers were found on the pendant. This item is highly distinctive in that it is customized with the victim's name, "Dale", spelled in hieroglyphic characters on one face. Item has been identified as that belonging to victim by victim's father, Jim Taylor.

11. The premises were processed for print and forensic evidence belonging to the victims. One print belonging to victim Dale J. Taylor was found near the rear kitchen door frame. No other evidence was found indicating the presence of the victims.

12.A small wooden shed is located to the west of the rear kitchen door abutting the side of the structure known as number 17 Virginia Street. In this shed were found a small folding shovel and a larger garden shovel both appeared to be washed clean. These were taken into custody for further analysis. A pair of leather work gloves were found in a plastic bag in the corner of the shed and taken into custody.

Search of vehicle: VIN # 6X1P50184

1. Vehicle is a dark gray, two door convertible BMW registered to Christian Chambers.

2. Extensive search and forensic examination of this vehicle uncovered no obvious physical evidence in case # 129152-36A-1998. Fiber samples were taken for comparison.

Search of vehicle: VIN # 538962087

1. Vehicle is a dark gray, two door hatchback Honda Civic registered to Christian Chambers.

2. Vehicle showed evidence of recent cleaning. Chemical tests conducted by the forensics team showed the presence of blood in the hatchback area of the vehicle and on the front dash console near the hood release mechanism.

3. Found wedged in the interior hatchback area spare tire well behind the emergency spare was a black leather strap that matches the handle torn from evidence item # 012695-0015, a recovered skate bag belonging to victim Dale Taylor.

4. Vehicle has been impounded for further forensic testing.

Based upon my experience in the investigation of Crimes Against Persons and violent crimes units I find sufficient physical evidence to issue an arrest warrant for subject Christian Chambers in case # 129152-36A-1998. Further, subject has fled and is considered to be a fugitive at this time justifying a fugitive warrant and fugitive alert bulletin.
