Incident: Evidence Recovery

DESCRIPTION:

Dispatch received a call from Josh C. Tatum, Jr. of 923 Ross Avenue, Oxford regarding a discovery of possible bloody items near Toby Tubby Creek. Patrol officer Scott Vittel was dispatched to Mr. Tatum's home arriving at 5:30 p.m. (See attached interview)

FINDINGS:

Officer Vittel took a report and phoned this investigator at 5:48 p.m. Based on the location and description of the items, a forensics team was called to the scene. I arrived at the scene at 6:08 p.m. and observed an open, stained folding knife and dark stained, crumpled fabric in a brushy area of grass. Latter item was later identified as a jacket.

Location is .5 miles from the Big Star, .4 miles from University Avenue, .08 miles from McLarty Road to the east and .08 miles from South 18th Street to the west.

Forensics officer Bartlett processed the scene and evidence was transported to the state crime lab by this investigator logged in at 7:46 p.m. with a request for a rush preliminary report to determine if these items are involved in the homicide cases of either Dale or Crystal Taylor.
