Description of Incident:

On three separate occasions (5/3/2004, 5/7/2004, 5/12/2004), the employee was informally given verbal counsel that hotel phones were for business use only, except for occasional, minimal, and necessary personal use and that he was spending too much time on the phone on personal business.

On 5/18/2004, employee was again observed spending excessive time continuously on the phone on personal business.

Best Western Corporate Communications Policy Section 3.32A states that employees may use hotel phones for "occasional, minimal, and necessary" personal use. Mr. Foyle's use was repeated, excessive, and unnecessary.

Verbal warning, reprimand in file, next offense in first warning of substandard performance as preparation for termination of employment.
