Dave,

I just talked with Chuck. I told him about the situation as you and I discussed it. Eventually, he and I agreed that from a legal standpoint it's better to be safe than sorry.

As a result, I'm taking you off the Knight investigation. You and I discussed this possibility Tuesday. I hope you're still OK with it. I know you want to do what's best to help solve the case. I'm afraid this time the best you can do is step aside.

I'll talk to Tony about his caseload. I know he's been wrapped up in a lot of stuff and could use some help. In the meantime, go ahead and take a long weekend.
