I. Asphyxiation due to:
  • A. Inhalation of smoke with presence of carbon deposits in trachea and proximal left bronchi
  • B. Inhalation of carbon monoxide
II. Global burns
 
III. Craniocerebral injuries
  • A. Scalp contusion
  • B. Linear, comminuted fracture of left temporal lobe
  • C. Linear pattern of contusions of left cerebral hemisphere
  • D. Subdural hematoma due to blunt force trauma
IV. Fracture of C2 cervical spine with associated hemorrhage
 
V. Abrasion/contusion, anterior right shoulder and chest wall
 
VI. Left anterolateral wedge compression fracture of the thoracolumbar spine

Cause of death of this forty seven year old male is asphyxiation due to inhalation of smoke and carbon monoxide with secondary thermal burns and associated craniocerebral trauma due to auto accident fire.
