Abandoned Vehicle Report from the New Orleans Metro Police Department
Vehicle Located: 1986 Buick LeSabre matching Mississippi APBs
Faxed Report to the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department October 5, 1997
 
On October 5, 1997, New Orleans Metro Police Officers Lajoux and Morris were called to Metarie, Louisiana, to investigate a possible abandoned car (1986 Buick LeSabre, brown) parked outside a liquor store (Micheletti Spirits) on E. Chapman Avenue. Owner of the store, Carl Micheletti, stated to officers that the car had been parked in the lot for two straight days and nights without moving. On further inspection of the locked car from the outside officers noted what appeared to be blood on the back passenger seat, the dash and stains on the front passenger seat. Car impounded and towed to NO Metro garage pending further examination.
 
Louisiana license plates (xxxxxx) were issued in East Feliciana Parish to one Margret Jasper, deceased. Car was garaged and plates stolen without current owners knowledge. East Feliciana Sheriff's office confirms.
 
Vehicle match to APBs # W-12797 and # W-12997. Contact to Sheriff Charles Lamar and Detective Terrence Nelson of the Yoknapatawpha Sheriff's Department.
 
Sheriff Charles Lamar gave authorization for Louisiana Crime Lab impound and forensic analysis immediately. Deputy Wise of the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's office will arrive to assist on October 6, 1997.
 
Interview with Carl Micheletti of Micheletti Spirits conducted by Officer Lajoux of NOMPD, Mr. Micheletti recalls a tall blonde woman entering the store on Friday and buying 3 fifths of bourbon. He watched her walk to the lot and thinks she may have been near this vehicle. He states most of his customers are regulars and he'd never seen her before. He recalls remarking on how pretty she was and she said something to the effect, "You might see me on TV." Subject was wearing white shorts, striped close fitting t-shirt. Mr. Micheletti made a positive identification of Victoria Symons from APB photographs.
 
Preliminary Forensic Report:
  1. Louisiana Crime Lab reports finding the following:
  2. Vehicle registration plate scratched, attempt at obliteration, plate lift positive. Registration number shows last owner as George Keel, Oxford, Mississippi. No registration found in glove box.
  3. Testing indicates type A blood was on the seat and floorboard of the back seat of the car.
  4. Trace of type B negative on front driver dash.
  5. Stain of blood type O on front passenger seat.
  6. A revolver gunbelt, police issue, was found under the passenger front seat along with two Hornady .357 Magnum JHP-XTP live rounds #9050.
  7. Steering column and key hole had been popped and the car was apparently driven with a screwdriver acting as a ignition key.
  8. 17 latent print lifts from vehicle, map, fast food wrappers, side mirror.
  9. Road map of western United States with pen marks near Fort Worth, TX; Albuquerque, NM the Grand Canyon in AZ; Yosemite National Park in NV; Las Vegas, NV; Sacramento, CA; and San Francisco, CA.
 
Forensic Match:
  • Preliminary forensic reports show that Type A blood may match deceased fugitive, Anthony Phelps, Mississippi APB #12897.
  • Type B negative smear may match Deputy Schiff, deceased, of the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department.
  • Type O blood may match fugitive Edward Arthur Pierce, Mississippi APB #12797.
  • Gunbelt and .357 Magnum matches issue of Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department.
  • Fingerprint evidence:
  • Latents lifted from vehicle match owner George Keel, fugitive Pierce, Phelps, and Symons. No other discernible prints.
