Caroline Allen Blanchard (Lamar)
 
Caroline Allen Blanchard was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to Mae Catherine Blanchard ne Randall, and Kenneth Allen Blanchard, M.D. on July 19, 1954. Mae Catherine died suddenly, November 2, 1979 from cancer at the age of 59. Kenneth A. Blanchard retired from active practice in 1987 and died of natural causes January 10, 1995 at the age of 80. Caroline has an older brother, Paul H. Blanchard, a marine biologist who lives in Maine.
 
Caroline grew up in a reserved, devout Baptist home with a strong commitment to fundamental humanitarian and Christian principles. Both her father and mother encouraged her to pursue a professional career providing full moral and financial support for both Caroline and Paul. Encouraged in volunteer activities, Caroline spent summers working with the Head Start program and Appalachia Ministries youth education programs tutoring disadvantaged children while in high school and college. Caroline retains that active commitment to volunteerism as a volunteer and advisor with the local Red Cross Disaster Relief, Disaster Action Team, the local blood bank, she has worked as a volunteer coordinator with the Brotherhood Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. She is also active with home health care outreach services for the elderly and disabled.
 
Caroline graduated from high school in 1972 and went on to attend Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee. The Christian environment found at Carson-Newman College was an extension and development of the service principles of her background at home. At Carson-Newman Caroline completed both a four year BSN, Nursing Program and a two year MSN Graduate Program in May of 1978 achieving both Family Nurse Practitioner certification and Critical Care Management Nursing certification. In the June of 1978 she went to Oxford, MS to take a position at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She met Charles James Lamar in the summer of 1978 and they were married May 20, 1979. Their only child, daughter Macy Lynn Lamar was born the following year, April 6, 1980. In honor of her much beloved mother, Macy's name is derived from Mae Catherine.
 
Caroline has a strong commitment to family values. She is active in her church the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Oxford. Extremely proud of Macy, she encourages her career goals, instilling the same commitment to strong moral values, service and achievement, individuality, spirituality and responsibility that are her own heritage.
 
Caroline is a Critical Care Nursing Supervisor at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She is a member of many state and national nursing associations including the American Assoc. of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) and is past President of the Northern Mississippi Chapter, Baptist Nursing Fellowship (BNF). An avid swimmer, Caroline swims at the local swim club several mornings a week.
 
Separated from Charles Lamar in June 1997 she current lives outside of Oxford with her daughter Macy, a senior at Lafayette High School.
