Arquette Case Comments |
Like so many others and speaking as a mother myself I wish there
were words to express just how sorry I am for your loss and my
outrage at this all to obvious cover up.
Re: Tue Nov 24 10:53:11 PST 1998
"...so to all those people that have been coming forward with tips, I
applaud you for your courage and wisdom....for all those that are
afraid to...keeping quiet on your part allows this to go on. It's
time to stop it."
Personally I would phrase this a little stronger. Not only does the
silence of people with information on this case allow it to go on,
you are outright IN LEAGUE with the killers of Kait! When did people
stop sticking up for what's right in this world? If I had any
information, no matter how trivial it may seem, and I kept quiet
about it I couldn't look myself in the mirror each day. While you are
sitting by these killers are free to kill again. Who will they murder
next? How do you think you'll feel about your silence if one of YOUR
loved ones are the next to die? Please do what is right and help
these grieving people find the closure they so desperately need.
Speak up.
May the Lord and Lady bless you and help ease the terrible pain you
must be going through with the light of divine love. I will ask the
webmaster of the site I work on to post a link to your site in the
hopes that we'll find someone with some useful information for
you.

Dear Mr and Mrs. Arquette,
Hi. Sorry to hear about your daughter's murder. I was reading about
the police not doing anything. That is wrong. Something has to be
done about this. You don't just let a murder case go without trying
to find out who did it. Again I am sorry to hear about your daughter
and I hope you are doing ok.
It's mentioned below that pres. pro tem of the NM state senate,
Manny Aragon, is related thru Mayor Martin Chavez to APD chief Joe
Polizar. Maybe coincidental, but Manny Aragon also happens to have a
brother, Chuck Aragon, who is serving 20 yrs. for financing an
international drug operation. I believe Chuck Aragon was arrested in
1989, right after the Arquette murder.
Dear Arquette Family and Friends,
I am very sorry to hear about your daughter's death.I hope that your
family has been able to move on and try to get over this.I read the
book about Kait's murder and I have decided to do a report on the
book for a school assignment. We hoped that maybe it would get more
people aware about what happened. We were wondering if you could
answer a few questions for us to include in our report. If so could
you please give us a personal point of view on her murder.I know that
it must be hard to think about this , so you only have to answer if
you feel comfortable doing so.Thank you very much and stay well.Email

Dear Arquette family,
Hi! I have read your book. I might add it is very good one. Is there
any way you and your family can get more publicity? Someone important
might notice that this crime can be solved if the cops will follow
some of their leads that they have. Couldn't you call your
congressmen to tell them that something is wrong with the police
force in Albuquerque? I wish you could get this solved like normal
crimes do. But in your case you can't because of your people down
there. I'm sorry that I can't help you but maybe if someone hears you
and your problem maybe they can. As nice as your daughter sounds I
can't believe that someone would want to kill her. I keep reading
your website to see if you come up with anything new. I know you
can't find your answers because of the police force and other poeple
that are invoved in the case. I'm glad that poeple are responding to
your website.
Sincerely, Some that cares!!
Response:We have written to all our congressmen. The only one to respond was U.S. representative Steven Schiff, who submitted Kait's case to Janet Reno requesting an investigation of APD. Reno responded that there was not sufficient evidence of police corruption for her department to become involved, and besides, the statute of limitations for "obstruction of justice" on Kait's case had run out. Steven Schiff has since died of cancer, so we have lost our one courageous and supportive congressman.
The reluctance of NM state officials to become involved with this case is understandable when you look at the way everybody is intertwined through blood, marriage, or other bonds. For instance, former APD Police Chief Joseph Polisar is married to the niece of (then) Albq. Mayor Martin Chavez, who is related by marriage to Manny Aragon, President Pro Tem of the NM State Senate. At the time of the Peter Klunck shooting, (see July 10, 1996 update, "Did Kait Know the Ninja Bandit?"), Polisar was in charge of the APD ROP Team, who killed Peter. APD homicide Lt. Patrick Dunworth, who orchestrated the investigation of Kait's case, and was also in charge of the crime scene at the Klunck shooting, is alleged to be a former bodyguard for Senator Aragon and a close friend of APD Ray Duran, who, at the time of Kait's death, was moonlighting as a disk jockey at the Roadrunner Lounge on Kirtland AFB, the alleged site of all that drug activity.
Lois,
You mentioned earlier that you had contacted the Vidocq Society with
Kait's case. Have you had any response from them?
I agree with you re: the most recent posts that MAKE SENSE! I read
the board often, looking for new information and responses, and I got
chills when I read the one that seemed to "put it all together".
It's frightening to think that people who are supposed to ENFORCE the
law can be so corrupt.
Blessings to you and your family as we move into this holiday
season.
[AngelFire]
Response:Members of Vidocq are helping us. That's all we can say at the moment.
The suggestion in the post immediately below this one is exciting to us, because it explains a lot. That post suggests that the Hispanic suspects were arrested "to take the heat off the crooked Vietnamese and crooked cops" and "were either paid by monetary compensation, or blackmailed to be kept out of jail for other criminal activities they had done in the past.... They may even have been arrested as part of the PLAN FOR THE WHOLE COVER-UP!! And being that they may have been blackmailed, they had to go along with the whole plan. They knew they would not have to stay in jail."
At the time of Kait's murder, Miguel Garcia, the accused shooter, had a burglary charge against him. The time he sat in jail, awaiting his trial (that never materialized) for shooting Kait, was the exact amount of time he would have had to serve for that burglary. When APD dropped murder charges against Miguel, they also dropped the burglary charge and refused to state why they did so. So Miguel lost nothing.
Juve Escobedo, who was accused of driving the car from which Miguel shot Kait, never spent ONE SINGLE DAY in jail. A bench warrant was issued for Juve when he was indicted for Kait's murder, but police allegedly were never able to find him to serve the warrant. We've always found that strange, as neighbors of Juve's, who recognized me from television news shows, rushed up to me in the grocery store to tell me that they had reported to APD that Juve was staying at his girlfriend's apartment across the street from them, and police never came to pick him up.
Dear Arquette family,
I have been following the postings here for a few months now. I sent
you the post on Sept. 24, 1998, that you responded with telling me
about the former Albuquerque Chief of Police, Joseph Polisar, being
recently ousted out by the new Mayor of Albuquerque, and is now Chief
of Police of GARDEN GROVE!! Anyway, that didn't surprise me, given
all that's been going on there and is still going on. But I am
sending this post in response to a post I just finished reading that
was very interesting. The one dated Nov. 25, 1998, who's sender so
amazingly put together the pieces of this chaotic puzzle, as you put
it in your response. This sender (I'm guessing her name is Sheri from
the e-mail address) has, I agree full heartedly, put together the
pieces of the puzzle so well that it is actually MAKING SENSE!
However, I have something to add to her speculations. She mentions in
her post that she can't quite figure out where the hispanics come
into all this, well I have a hunch. There had to be someone to put
the blame on to take the heat off the crooked Vietnamese and crooked
cops, right? Well, my guess is that they were either paid by monetary
compensation, or blackmailed to be kept out of jail for other
criminal activities they had done in the past, to say that they were
involved in Kait's killing. They may even have been arrested as part
of the PLAN FOR THE WHOLE COVER-UP!! And being that they may have
been blackmailed, they had to go along with the whole plan. They knew
they would not have to stay in jail. I know this sounds kind of
crazy, but then so does this whole chaotic diabolical murder case of
your daughter. Keep up the good work in bringing this whole thing to
JUSTICE!! I feel in my heart you are getting real close.

Response:I think you may have placed the final brick in the wall.
If your post stems from more than pure supposition, please, contact us directly. I give you my word that your identity will never be revealed, and we guarantee the same to anyone else who is reading this board and has information that might help us. We promise that no one who joins "Kait's Army," will ever be identified without permission.
This is in response to "Chris's" post about former DA Bob
Schwartz, who made conflicting statements about Kait's case to the
family and to the media. That guy is a piece of work. According to an
article in the Albq. Journal, when Schwartz got ousted from his
position in Dec. 1996, the new DA, Jeff Romero, found 200 drug cases,
which should have been sent to a grand jury, rat holed in a private
office. Most of those cases had by then passed the time limit for
prosecution, and some had not even been logged into the office. You
know what Schwartz told the press about this obvious cover-up?
"Finding 200 cases? That's like an entire file cabinet of cases! You
just don't find a file cabinet of cases growing mold. I don't know
what he's talking about. I have no idea what those cases are. I'm not
even going to guess." (Sounds just as amazed as Clinton about the
stain on the blue dress.)
Response:For a former DA who stepped down over two years ago, Bob Schwartz still seems to have a tremendous amount of control over APD. Homicide Detective Guerra recently told the mother of Josh Vihel, 16, who died at a party this past January, that APD can't investigate the people who own the house where Josh died, because Schwartz has forbidden it.
Dear Mrs. Arqutte,
I could feel your stress and hurt along with anger and confusion. I
am very sorry for the loss of your daughter. I am not familiar of ant
losses in my family, but I could never imagine the pain. Especially
knowing that your daughter was murdered for a reason. I found it
amazing that the psychics could be so close and find so many random
things that some how related to the case. It made me think very
differently of them. That was the most interesting part to me in your
book. I believe that you had some kind of contact with your daughter,
and I find that to be a definite sign that she loved you and wanted
yu to feel no guilt to her death. That finger print of God was real
and God wanted her for a reason, at least you know she is safe now,
and happy. I could go on about the book, but I am sorry to say that I
have nothing to help your case. I am very frustrated with the police
and it scares me to think that they have responsibilities of keeping
people safe and finding those who are bad people. To read about so
much evidence or leads, but have no one to explore them that could
help frustrates me. I felt like I could have solved or came close to
solving some kind of case with all you leads. I am glad that you have
moved on with your family and have kept Kait always close to your
heart. I ask one question of you if you have time to respond. It has
to do with your book. What do you think was your main purpose to
writing this book. To share with others? To find answers? To tell
about your life during the year of loss, how it almost destroyed your
marriage? I could find maybe my own reason for your purpose, but I
guess I either missed it or something, but I was curious to know your
thinking about it. thank you for your time and I wish you the best of
luck in your life and in someday solving this case.
You can email me your answer at: [email protected]
My name is Mandy Hanson and I am from Corvallis, Oregon
Response:I wrote the book because it was evident that APD had dropped off the case and our only hope for a resolution was to go public with Kait's story, lay all our questions out on the table, and hope that informants would come out of the woodwork to help us. Some did, and so did an assortment of private investigators who offered their services pro bono and have been invaluable to us.
We've established this web page for the exact same reason. But this is working out even better, because the e-mail envelope makes it so easy for tipsters to contact us.
Dear Arquette family,
My name is Katie and i live in Alaska and i will soon
be a Lawyer and i was very interested in your daughters

Response:Good luck with your law career, Katie! I'm sure you'll be a blessing to many.
Mrs. Duncan,
I'm a 13 year old girl from Florida.My name is Emily & i have
read your book "Who Killed My Daughter?"I found the book a very
touching story.I am very sorry about your loss. When you think about
it though she is in Heaven with God now & she is watching over
you.I feel that it is not right at all for the cops to stage a cover
up.I have the same feelings you do one the subject , I feel she was
murdered.
Everyone at my school thinks you are a great author & we
literally argue in class for who will read your books next beacause
we only have one copy of your books. If you will please email me at
[email protected] If you don't have time trust me i do
understand you are a very busy woman.
Thanks,
Emily
From The case as I just read it, I am disgusted and ashamed at
what has befallen your family and am terribly sorry for the hell you
must still be going through. It's quite obvious that your daughter's
murder was a small chip of the huge block of government crime. The
evidence is too much to ignore. The fact that the FBI seems unmovable
and is not busting down a few doors to assist in an investigation
with you suggests, to me, that this hit a vein that goes all the way
up to the pocketbooks of some very big boys.
Please be careful. The ability of some people to make others
disappear is not always so bumbling as the disgracful cops of the
apd. I am sure you have already been put through a great deal of
obsticle courses in your search for the truth. But as a friend of
mine once said " It just gets harder from here."
If there is a way to find some big guns to bring scrutiny to this
case (such as 20/20 or 60 minutes) I beg you to bring it to bear.
If I can find any way to assist you, I will immediatly write you. It
is almost ten years since this attrocity. It's been too long...

To the Arquette Family:
My name is Alison, and I was assigned to read a biography for a
school book report. I chose your book, Who Killed My Daughter?, and
could not put it down until the end! My theory is that one of your
psychics claimed that one of the reasons that Kait could have been
killed was due to the fact that she witnessed something happen to a
VIP. If this VIP knew that she saw this happen, maybe the VIP was the
person who hired another to be killed. Second, on the week previous
or and that day Kait was killed, do you check to see if any one else
had been murdered, slain, or reported dissapeared? I wonder if what
Kait witnessed was another murder preformed by the VIP.
I doubt that any of this will help you, and I'm sure you probably
have already thought of this. By the way, it was amazing how you
wrote your book with so much detail of something that happened long
ago. The way you wrote about how you remembered all of you feelings
was pretty amazing. I have just finished my five-page report on your
book, and as I look through it, you really have gone through alot of
sufferings and troubles. You can e-mail me at [email protected]
Good luck, Alison
Response:Actually, I didn't write the book "with so much detail of something that happened long ago." I wrote it in "real time." Immediately after the murder, I realized that I was in shock, and was undoubtedly blocking out things that I would later want to remember with total accuracy. So every night I would sit down at the computer and record every detail of everything that had happened that day. I taped recorded every phone conversation I had with anybody about the case, (including the psychics and the police). So, when it finally became apparent that APD had dropped off the case, and I realized that I would have to write a book in order to keep the case alive, I had all the information in my journals and on my tapes. Nobody has ever challenged it, because it is documented.
My deepest sorrows for the Arquette Familiy. I feel that what
happen to your daugther can happen to anyone's daughter. I have 3
daughters of my own and may GOD protect them from harm.Don't give up
until you find out who kill your daughter but is very obvious that
her boyfriend is involved. His alibis are his own friends who are
involved in the same crimes. Dung try to kill himself to make it seem
like he is sadden for her death but he is trying to clear himself out
of been a suspect. I didn't know how terrible the police in Alburque
are they are probably scared of the gangs down there. I think that
the policeman who saw the 2 cars parked and a man standing next to
your daughter's car would have notice that something bad was going on
if he thought it was a accident why did he kept on going and call for
back up. He was probably scared to be another victim. When he came
back the car was gone and he was left standing next to your
daughter's car. What excuse did he have in regards to what happen to
his car or who drove his car-the police should of arrested him as a
suspect and search his car. Maybe the reason why he was still there
when the policeman came back was because the poliman saw
him.(Remember that the policeman have a camera in their car they had
to have a video tape of it-i hope)Maybe the reason why the policeman
didn't see anybody else the other car was because they probably hid
in the car while the policeman drove by. It still doesn't make sense
on why didn't the policeman check Paul A. for any reports. I hope
that you will find your killer but it looks like her boyfriend. I
also suggest that you get a private investigator.
Good Luck
Ali
Ms. Duncan,
My name is Rob Eckerfield. I am a United States Marine stationed in
Bahrain, (outside Saudi Arabia). I started taking a Criminal Justice
course and had started work on my term paper. I was in the library
looking for research and I saw a book on the shelf, called "Who
Killed My Daughter." I don't know what it was, but I just felt
something telling me to get this book. To be honest, I have never
been much of a reader, but have always loved to write. In fact, it is
my goal to be a screen writer when I leave the Marines next year. So
when I read the back page and it said that this was a true story and
that you were a certified author, I felt compelled to read it. I
started to read your book last Saturday afternoon, hesitantly, as no
book in the past five years has been able to keep my interest past
page 10. I don't know what it was, but as I started reading the first
paragraph, and that your daughter was killed on July 16, my birthday,
I could not put it down. Before I knew it, I had read 150 pages and
was still as captivated as the moment I had started. It took me about
3 and a half days to finish it, (I would've finished it all that day,
but my work schedule doesn't permit). What completely surprised me
though, was that I fond myself at work just waiting to reach lunch
hour so I could start reading, then I couldn't wait to get home, so I
could start reading again. I have never had a book affect me like
yours has! The reason I am writing to you, is since I finished
reading the book, I can't get the events surrounding the murder out
of my head. When I wake up, while I'm working, when I go to sleep, I
have so many questions, I can't seem to concentrate on anything else.
I figured since the book was written in 1989, maybe some new events
had come to light. You said you found a bouquet of flowers on Kait's
grave at the end of the book, and that you thought they were from
"Rod". Were you ever able to find him? You said that there was
nothing in the yearbooks. Has anything happened since then? Also,
what became of Mike Vamp (Garcia) and Juve? Have they been arrested
for any other crimes since the incident? I know you said Mike
supposedly had "found God". Is he leading a good life, that you know
of? And most importantly, Dung. What is he doing? Any person in their
right mind could see he was involved. There is no way he couldn't
have been. And then the police giving you the runaround, and what you
said Detective Gallegos said on "Unsolved Mysteries" about there
being nothing solid to prove to him that the Vietnamese were
involoved. What is he blind?!!! or is there something's he's hiding?
Another question I have, one of the psychics said that there was
still an officer who wasn't completely satisfied with the case and
was still investigating on his own? Did you ever find out who he was?
And has Betty had any new information come to her? These questions
are going through my head constantly. I know that there obviously
isn't much I can do, being here in the Middle East, but I would like
very much to keep in contact with you regarding the status of this
case. I have a hotmail address. That's about all we have here. If you
have the time, please write me. It's "[email protected]"
Sincerely,
Corporal Robert T. Eckerfield
United States Marine Corps
IMCSFCo Bahrain
Response:Yes, we did find "Rod," -- or, rather, he found US after reading my book and realizing that we were searching for him. He's a nice young man, and was having secret coffee and movie dates with Kait in the weeks before she was killed. He had fallen in love with her, was devastated by her death, and had been leaving flowers on her grave every week. He told us that she had told him that she would be breaking up with Dung that weekend and she and Rod could then start dating openly.
Miguel Garcia is still in Albq. After his release from jail he was shot in the stomach, (an alleged suicide attempt), but has apparently recovered. Nobody knows where Juve Escobedo is.
Detective Gallegos has left the homicide department and is now in burglary department.
First of all I'd like to offer my condolences to the family. It is
the greatest injustice I've ever heard of that this case was handled
the way it was. This case has intrigued me since I first heard of it,
and now after hearing all of the evidence presented here, I think I
can make a few speculations. First of all, I'd like to start with the
background...
Peter Klunck--a small time drug dealer who did off-the-books work on
cars at the body shop. Probably picked up his drugs there to
redistribute on the streets, and in his time there probably heard
about Griffin's robberies and the Vietnamese connection. One
possibility is that he was approached because of his car-work skills.
He refuses, and Griffin kills him because he was going to go public
and bust Griffin. That takes care of Peter Klunck. Now, Dung knows
the shop crooks and helps them out at times, and takes Kait to the
shop's parties (they're living together, so why wouldn't he take her
to these parties?) and she starts to learn about the criminal
activities going on through there.
Let me backtrack here for a second--The drugs were coming in through
the Air Force base, as we know from the unidentified tipster who was
raped by the cop. My thought is that the drugs come in on transports,
thus avoiding customs and other law enforcement, get dropped in KAFB
where they're then doled out to the Vietnamese cooks and hookers
working in the NCO clubs and enlisted clubs. The women there give
them over to the Vietnamese men in town who run everything through
the body shop. Whoever Khanh's sergeant was is obviously involved in
all of this. Why else would he tell the other men in Khanh's platoon
to forget about Dung's "suicide?" Another speculation is that the
sergeant is not only involved in the drugs, but quite possibly in
other criminal activities, such as getting illegal aliens bogus SSN's
and getting them into the military to help protect them once they're
in the country. This would explain why Khanh has the same SSN as so
many other immigrants. I would suggest the Khanh's sergeant be
questioned about all of this. It might help shed some light on all of
this.
When Kait figures out what's going on with the Vietnamese crime ring
she decides to go to the police, which is a big mistake. Dung, who
wants to protect his friends lets them know that Kait's going to the
police so they decide to kill her. I can't figure out where the
hispanics figure into it, so I'm not going to include them into my
speculation here... Since Dung's friends were involved in insurance
scams, they obviously knew how to wreck cars. The long trail of
broken glass indicates that she was initially hit far from where she
eventually ended up. Chances are, whoever was doing it, shot her in
the head and used their own car to herd her car into the telephone
pole where she wrecked. After the actual wreck, one of the men got
out and shot her in the head again to make sure she was dead, which
would explain the two different angles of entry of the bullet wounds.
Paul was obviously one of the two men in the car, a VW that was
repainted by Dung's friends in front of his own apartment in order to
help disguise it. Paul leaves the gun in the VW and whoever the
passenger was sped off to drop it in the dumpster behind the auto
shop, and then calmly drove off to avoid suspicion.
The first cop, who "just happened to be in the neighborhood"
immediately after the murder went over to see what had happened and
sees Paul, who obviously has protection from someone in very high
places. A second cop shows up, and Paul's name is taken for no reason
other than to show that they saw him. Paul leaves and the rest of the
investigation team shows up. They take their pictures, candy coat the
reports and call it good, since they were obviously in on the murder.
The bad pictures that were shown to the family were taken simply for
PR reasons, while the good pictures (that the family accidentally saw
one of on the video) were for their own use. Around midnight, Dung
knows that it's been done so he starts to attempt to cover himself by
calling people and saying that Kait's been killed. In the meantime he
has also had a friend of his fake the note from Kait to supplement
his own story. Three hours later the cops wake him up and "inform"
him that Kait's dead. Dung starts to feel guilty and tells Kait's mom
that he knows who killed Kait and can't decide whether or not to
tell. Word of this gets out and Dung "commits suicide" in Khanh's
room at KAFB. More likely, Dung was stabbed in Khanh's room to shut
him up.
Now I've got some questions that, if answered, could fill in some of
the huge gaps in this case:
-Why would the FBI refuse to verify the APD reports?
-Why were Kait's belongings in the Violent Crimes vault if it was
decided to be a "random drive-by?"
-Who is Lee Padilla's brother, and where is Lee Padilla now?
-Who is protecting Paul and why?
Thanks for listening. I know I've rambled, but I hope it helps. If
you want to ask me any questions I can be reached at
[email protected]
Thanks again. Good luck.
Response:You've put the pieces of this chaotic puzzle together so amazingly well that I've copied your post and sent it to our private investigator. You've actually got it MAKING SENSE!!!
Hi mine name is Joey. i have been following this privatly and can
state that this is the most obvious attempt at a cover-up.
First off the hand writing. You can't possibly say thats the same.
Look at the H's and Y's. how the H from Kait's school paper is more
arched than the one in the alledged note.
Second the 2 shots to the head. How one is made at a higher angle
suggesting that there was one shot which stopped the car, then the
shooter got out and and while standing shot again to make sure. This
means that they wanted to make sure she was dead and suggests that
this was no random shooting as the police stated.
Third was Kait's fear of Dung. This could mean that she knew
something about him which made her fear for her life.
I hope this helps you in your search.

Greeting to the Arquette family,
I've been a resident in Albuquerque for 12 years now and I frequently
watch the local news. I must admit that I dont recall ever having
heard of this case. I was wondering how much help and support you
have recieved from the local media? This case appears to be a
cover-up or at least a case of complete incompetance by the APD. I
would think that one of our local investigative reporters would be
all over this. I found your home page through a link on the New
Mexico Survivors of Homicide page which has been discussed recently
on one of the local nightly newcasts (sorry, I cant remember which
channel). I was thinking that with a little badgering they might be
persuaded into doing some "spotlight" features on the unsolved cases
presented on the NMSOH page. Also, have you ever thought about making
a documentary for airing on the public access channel here in Alb.
From my understanding the production equipment is made available to
the public and the air time is free. Well, thats my two-cents worth,
this has gotten me completely spooked about APD. Since I've been
around, the word on the grapevine has always been to watch your back
around the cops, but this is unbelievable. Take care and you have my
sympathy. -G. in Albuquerque
Response:Kait's case received a lot of media coverage at the time of the shooting and again when charges against the Hispanic suspects were withdrawn, but now it's "old news." Your idea for TV "spotlight features" is an excellent one, however, not just for our case, but for all the other unsolved murders in Albq. Would you and others in Albq. be willing to suggest that to one of the stations? KOAT-TV might be a good one, as the news director has been especially supportive in the past.
Keep The Faith I will be praying for you
(Brooke Utah)
I applaud the Arquette family in never giving up the hunt for
Kait's killers. Whoever did this, or orchestrated it, should be very
afriad...just LOOK at how many people post tips here....just LOOK at
the amount of people that know a little something...whoever did this
to Kait can't silence everyone, and the more people that speak out
about what happened, loudly and frequently, the safer everyone will
be. The only way for these cowards to get away with intimidation and
murder is for the people who know something to keep quiet. The more
noise there is about Kait's murder, the closer and closer the
Arquette's get to whoever did it. You can't hide the truth
forever...so to all those people that have been coming forward with
tips, I applaud you for your courage and wisdom....for all those that
are afraid to...keeping quiet on your part allows this to go on. It's
time to stop it.
I pray that the Arquette's will find who did this....I've posted
links to this site on all of my webpages in hopes that people will
find their way here with any info. Lois, ever since I've read your
book I've wanted to do something to help, and providing links is a
small thing, but hopefully a useful one. You and your family are in
my thoughts.

Response:Thank you for providing links to Kait's page. The more people who read it, the more chance there is of obtaining answers.
Lois,
I read your book a few years ago, and was both fascinated and
frightened. I live in Albuquerque, and to think the police (and the
politicians) may be worse than the criminals, that's horrifying. I
can only imagine your frustration - who to trust, who to turn to for
help. Wasn't there a police officer or detective who was helpful to
you, that you referred to in the book? What happened with him? Also,
I recall that you had consulted a number of psychics - did any of
them provide concrete leads?
Also, in my personal opinion, it doesn't surprise me that DA Bob
Schwartz gives varying statements regarding your daughter's case.
I've heard rumors that the man is not too stable psychologically.
Scary that we had him in a powerful political position.
I'm sorry that I don't have any information to help you with. It is
my sincere hope that you find the truth, and that it happens for you
soon. I also hope that your quest eventually has an impact on the
corrupt political and legal system in New Mexico. Thank you for your
efforts. You and your family are in my thoughts...
Best Wishes,
Chris

dear lois, i have just read your book in my law class. it was
deeply disturbing to know of all of this corruption involved and it
makes me extremely upset to see you getting the runaround even after
all of these years. it is time for an outside force to step in and
put to rest all of the unanswered questions.you are an inspiration to
people everywhere and i wish you peace and best wishes.

You had mentioned in your book that your husband has family in
Michigan. I am from Michigan and know of a few Arquettes. Also, is
there anymore info on Dung and Sharon mysterious "accidents?" (The
dog Bite and alleged suicide) Werent they both ironically on the same
day or no?
Response:Those weren't the only two mysterious "accidents" that happened to people linked to Kait's murder. Ray Padilla, (who has admitted to being Dung's drug supplier)had his wrists cut (an alleged suicide attempt) after telling police that An Quoc Le's friends were big time cocaine dealers. The two women who were with Padilla at the time also had wrists cut and arms slashed, (alleged suicide attempts, because they wanted to keep Padilla company). Dennis "Marty" Martinez (who called 911 to confess that he and his friends were hired by the Vietnamese to kill Kait) was found lying in his doorway with his wrists cut, (an alleged suicide attempt). And the Hispanic suspect, Miguel Garcia, was shot in the stomach after his release from jail, (another alleged suicide attempt). All of these people survived, but all appear to have been intimidated enough by their "suicide attempts" not to talk about the case any further.
To the family of Kaitlyn Arquette,
What words could I say that would help you with your loss? What could
I possibly say that hasn't already been said? The only thing I can
offer is my heart. My thoughts are with you as you try to find out
who did this horrible crime against you.
To Lois Arquette...
May I say that in light of your book" I Know What You Did Last
Summer" being turned into a slasher film -my heart breaks for you.
How painful it must be to have your words turned into a film about
killing teens. I will do whatever it takes to get your story heard,
Lois. That you can count on.
-BeatBoxBetty
Response:The fact that my young adult novel, (which did not contain a single murder, and was about the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions), was -- without my knowledge or consent -- turned into a slasher film that portrays teenage violence as something to squeal and giggle about, makes me heartsick. I had no control over what Hollywood did to that story, but I do have control over how I spend the proceeds. I am using them to subsidize NIA/NM (National Investigative Agency of New Mexico), a small, non-profit investigative agency in Albuquerque that gives pro bono help to victims of violent crime who are not being serviced by The System.
Mrs. Arquette,
When I was in the fifth grade, I found your book in my school
library. I began to read it, and it wasnt long before I couldn't put
the book down. I felt so bothered by what you said inside. Everything
was so frustrating and discouraging. I often asked myself how one
person could keep such a dedicated mind. Around the last part of the
book, the school year ended, and I had to give the book back. It made
me so upset, and I never got to finish it. I am now a junior in
highschool, and everyday I think about your daughters case. It is so
complicated, so twisted. I wanted to tell you that you are by far the
strongest woman that I have ever known, even though coming from
someone my age, that might not seem like much. I will never forget
you or your daughter. You are both in my heart and prayers. Someday,
everything will be revealed to you, and I will want to be the first
one to know.

I really don't know what to write, because I have been looking for an
opportunity for so long to find any way at all to talk to you, or
tell you what I think about you. I really admire you alot, and I
always wish that I can find all the answers that you need to catch
the killer. Every time I pick up your book or even see it, it makes
me angry that I can not do that for you. This sounds kind of funny,
but I was telling my drive instuctor that someway I have to get ahold
of that Psychic Sylvia Brown and tell her about you, make her read
your book. She has solved some really difficult murder cases. I
really belive in her. I think she can help you. I know I probably
sound like a little girl with a head full of dreams, but God makes
miracles happen. I want to tell you a little about me, I am 17 years
old and live with my aunt and uncle, My Dad lives in Hollywood, my
brother lives with my other uncle, and my Mom died 11 days before my
16th birthday. I think my mom might have a little to do with why I
care so much for you and your family. Even though she wasn't
murdered, I can almost relate to what you are going through. Okay , I
really wish you good luck and I hope someone can help you. I am still
going to try to get ahold of Slyvia brown. Thank you.
Tiffany Roelling (I wish there was a way I could personally talk to
or email you) (My e-mail address - [email protected])
Response:You can do that, honey. I am easily reached. Send me an e-mail at [email protected] and I will respond. My heart breaks for you for the loss of your mother at such a young age. It's not supposed to happen that soon. Love, Kait's Mom
I dont suppose anyone has considered hiring someone to "take care
of the situation"? I dont normally approve of people acting outside
the law, but when the local "law" is obviously corrupt, well, you'd
probably be doing the city and surrounding area a favor if you
did.
If you wont or cant take that option, asking the Feds to take the
case is your next best bet. There are a few Feds out there who take
bribes, but they tend to be few and far between. *unlike local law
enforcement thank God* Chances are that this 'drug ring' crosses
state and more than likely national lines, so they should already
have more than a passing interest in it - if they dont already have a
file. Also, if all else fails, there are people in the ACLU who may
be able to help. They take it rather personally when those who are
sworn to serve and protect dont. Just poke around, there are
resources at your disposal - you just need to find the right one at
the right time. Tell the parents to rest assured; although nothing
anyone says or does can bring their child back, the ones responsible
for her death will pay many times over whether anyone on the outside
knows it or not.
[from: an educated guess]
also, is there a chance that the police dept was working undercover
to get this ring, and she got in the way? That wouldnt be the first
time something like that has happened....and small, local law
enforcement usually isnt good enough to cover up something that big,
when an innocent gets caught in the crossfire....
Response:No, we would not consider hiring somebody to "take care of the situation," because (1) we are doing our best to work within the law, and (2) we wouldn't know who to have earased. Although we are certain this was a hit, we don't know for certain who pulled the trigger or who put out the contract. We have been given names of police officers who (allegedly) were involved in either the cover-up of the homicide or the shooting itself, but we don't know that this information is accurate.
I havelost a daughter. She was raped and thenmurdered. It later
turned out that it was her boyfriend. My case turned out good, soon,
so will yours.
Shelly G
Response:How terrible! I am so sorry, for her and for those of you who loved her. God bless you all.
I THINK YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT THE FRIEND WHICH KATE WAS GOING TO!
IN MY CASE, HER FRIEND IS THE NUMBER ONE SUSPECT! HER BOFRIEND MIGHT
OF HIRED SOMEONE TO DO IT. YOU NEED TO GIVE BOTH A LIE DETECTOR
TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Response:Private citizens cannot force anybody to take lie detector test. The police are in a position to request that, but, in this case, they won't do so.
I was just searching the Internet, and I found this awful crime
againts your daughter. It just makes me sick. No one deserves this
let alone have the police cover it up. If I could help I would. It
seems to me that you have it all figured out, but how to make the
punishment stick will be hard for those men who confessed. If these
men don't get their punishment now they will when they face the wrath
of God! I am a young women who lives alone and these stories always
scare me. We have to find away to stop these crimes againts
people.
I am sorry about your Daughter and I am praying for you
constently. I just hope who ever did it will eather turn themself in
or you Find them. God Be With you In These days!!!May God Pour His
Blessings On You!!!

Hi my name is Jessica O'Keefe I read your book and thought that
This would have never happened if there was a law that said only
police could have guns, and that they would have to leave them there
in the police station when there shift got done. I hope that one day
(real soon) that you get peace!

Hello,
My name is Melanie. I am 16 years old and a junior in Lower Dauphin
High School, PA. I'm in my Reading class right now, and our
assignment was to look at your web page because we are talking about
you, and the murder of your daughter. I just read about the killing,
and I really hope that you find the killer soon. I haven't read the
book "Who Killed My Daughter" yet, but I plan on it. I am very
interested in learning all the facts about it.
I am very sorry for your loss, and again I hope that everything turns
out alright I wish that I had just one clue for you, but unfortunatly
I dont. I hope that someday in the near future "you" come to rest
with the murder case. Never before have I dont something like this,
and I'm glad I could write to you.
Sincerely,
Melanie
I have just just spent the day (the enitre day) reading your book.
I have just moments ago finished and hoped that I would find good
news on the net regarding your battle. To my disappointment, I have
not.
I was also raised in Albuquerque and went to Manzano as your daughter
did. However, I did not live here at the time of this crime and was
not aware of it until a few days ago when my sister-in-law told me
about the book, which I promptly borrowed.
I am in total disbelief of what I have just read. You see my father
is a retired policeman from APD(retired in 1987) and I was raised to
put your faith in the so called Judicial System. Unfortunately, I
have had the occassion over the past few years to have multiple
dealings with our system and my family has been disappointed time and
again. We too have been at a loss as what can be done to insure the
rights of victims and their families and spent countless hours on the
phone calling agencies for help to no avail. We have been made
promises that were merely to keep you quite for another period of
time. I am ashamed of the City of Albuquerque and the politics that
allows this to continue to happen.
I truely feel for your family. I wish as a mother, as citizen of
Albuquerque, and as a person who is tired of seeing our judicial
system fail, that I could do something to aid in your battle. What I
can do is assure you that I will pass this book on to others in my
family in hopes that the word will continue, that this hedious crime
has gone unanswered and for no other reason than politics and
cowardness.
Sincerely,
Dawn C.
Response:We would like to hear from your father, via personal e-mail (not a public post on this message board). Having been a part of APD just two years before Kait's murder, he might be able to advise us about which members of the homicide department we can trust. We promise not to reveal his identity to anybody, ever. But we truly need his guidance. It sounds like he might have been sent to us by God.
