Macy Lynn Lamar was born at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford,
Mississippi on April 6, 1980 to Caroline Blanchard Lamar and Charles
James Lamar. Macy's father, Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff Charles James
Lamar, was murdered in 1998. Her mother, Caroline Allen Blanchard is a
nursing supervisor at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
In 1997, Lamar was abducted from the Oxford Mall parking lot and held
hostage in Biloxi by a real estate developer attempting to cover up a
toxic waste dumping scheme found out by Lamar’s father, the late sheriff
Charles Lamar.
She graduated from Lafayette High School in May of 1998 and enrolled
in summer school classes at the University of Mississippi. Her grades
were mediocre, and her mother did not want her moving into the dormitory
on campus. Lamar was adamant about moving out, so her mother agreed,
hoping it would help her overcome her sadness. However, she began
skipping classes and hanging out with no-counts.
Eventually, Lamar cut back on her class load and got a part-time job
at Square Books to earn some money and to give her something to do that
would let her interact with friends and classmates without having to be
in school full time.
Lamar met Corwin Fitz in the spring of 2004 and the two soon became
inseparable. Lamar helped Fitz recruit both financing and cast/crew
members for his film, Bacchanals' Destruction. In May of 2004,
she announced to her mother that she was dropping out of school entirely
to working on the movie for several months. Her mother only heard from
Macy by telephone occasionally during the shoot.
