The victim of this crime (Corwin Fitz Case
# 002221-15H-2004) was Darrell Beck, of Austin, Texas. Two
things previously believed about him are true: he was born June 13, 1976, and died August 15, 2004.
His father was Martin Beck, the owner and
proprietor of a popular Austin restaurant, Marty's.
His mother, Musella, was a fringe celebrity and friend of
the stars in Hollywood. She spent most of her time there,
returning home infrequently, and when she did, it was often with
celebrity friends. It is believed she brought Robert Price, a.k.a. Corwin
Fitz, to Austin, proclaiming him to
be the next big thing in Hollywood. Having lost respect for
both of his parents, Darrell traveled further east with Fitz where they
eventually began their "guerrilla theatre" spree. Beck and Price are believed to have shared the
Corwin Fitz identity over the years, with one or the other of them
becoming Corwin whenever it suited their purposes.
Martin Beck provided the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department
with copies of his son
Darrell's adoption papers. According to Mr. Beck's records,
Darrell had been born in Jackson, Mississippi on June 13,
1976.
The Becks also had a daughter, Ruth, who committed suicide in
1991 at the age of 17.
