Follow-up interview conducted by Detective Dittmer from the New Orleans P.D.

Time: 6:15 PM
Officer: Detective Jason Dittmer
Others Present: None

I interviewed Lisa Wood at her apartment as requested by Detective Armstrong from Oxford, Mississippi. He warned me that the witness had turned uncooperative. She failed to return any phone calls and letters were returned addressee unknown.

I quickly identified her place of work and residence. She got off work at 6 PM. At 6:15 PM, I intercepted her walking from the parking lot to her apartment.

Our conversation was brief. My directives were: 1) Identify her location. 2) Explain her responsibilities as a witness for the prosecution. 3) Ask if there was any additional information she might have remembered.

Ms. Wood was combative, possibly frightened, when I surprised her near her apartment. She said she intended to move soon and that she had no idea where. When I warned her about the possibility of appearing as a witness, she laughed. She laughed harder when I warned her about the possibility of a subpoena.

Ms. Wood requested that she ammend her statement. Her words follow:

Wood: Yeah I have something to add. I was really drunk. I can't remember anything from that month, let alone that night.

Officer: your previous statements have been entered into the record. I must warn you about the penalties for perjury and the resultant...

Wood: Yeah, Yeah. Look, I was drunk. I ran into Val and some guy. Now you're all over me because I thought he was cute. She's dead, he's cute, and I can't remember anything else.

Officer: Perhaps you could define cute. What was so cute about him?

Wood: He was sitting there all quiet. And I thought...I was thinking. Uh, I guess it was the way he chewed on that toothpick?

Officer: Toothpick?

Wood: Yeah. The bar toothpick. He was nibbling it slow and kind of sexy. I dunno. Are we finished? I've got to go to the bathroom.
