Interview with Mary Haywood, 10 Park Lane, Mountain Home, Sept. 23, 1996
Det. Anderson telephoned the subject and subsequently interviewed her in her home.
ANDERSON: Now then Mrs. Haywood. Can you tell me what
happened on the night of April 1, 1995?

HAYWOOD: Well, I dont remember too well. We had a board
meeting for our church, and then we had rehearsal for the Easter choir
show -- every year the church choir puts on a little program down at the
high school.

ANDERSON: Was the Knight family at the meeting?

HAYWOOD: Yes I mean, that is Frank Knight was there. Hes the
only one on the board.

ANDERSON: What was the topic he talked about that night? The
agenda says it was about political action.

HAYWOOD: Oh, I wouldnt remember. Its nothing out of the
ordinary. Usually its just about what groups were helping. You know
what weve done in the past month.

ANDERSON: Do you have minutes from that meeting?

HAYWOOD: No. We dont really keep them around. People just take
notes for personal use.

ANDERSON: Do you have your notes?

HAYWOOD: From that meeting? No. I threw out that notebook a long
time ago.

ANDERSON: Lets go back to the rehearsal. Was the Knight family
there?

HAYWOOD: Yes Frank was - Purity and Judy were there then too.

ANDERSON: Was Jake Rohleen there?

HAYWOOD: Well, hes not in the choir. So I would guess not. I dont
recall. But he sometimes helped with the bleachers, you know, setting
up. Im sorry officer I just dont know.

ANDERSON: No problem, Mrs. Haywood. What time did rehearsal
end that night? Do you remember?

HAYWOOD: Well, I know it went late, thats for sure. We had to get
through all the songs. It took forever. Maybe 10:30 or 11.

ANDERSON: And was the Knight family there until it ended?

HAYWOOD: Oh yes. Theyre very dedicated.

ANDERSON: Did you notice anything unusual at all that evening?

HAYWOOD: No, nothing.

ANDERSON: Youve been very helpful. Do you have anything to add?

HAYWOOD: I do. Id like to say that Frank and Judy Knight are two of
the most righteous people I know. God is testing them, because He
knows theyll meet the challenge. Thats how I explain it all.

ANDERSON: Thank you. May we release this interview to the public?

HAYWOOD: Of course.

ANDERSON: Thank you.
