Ballistic Testing Reveals No Match

7 November 1996

Officers located a handgun inside a toolbox. The weapon, a .22 caliber model, is manufactured by Heckler and Koch. It is registered to Frank Knight. There is no indication of recent firing. Internal ballistic testing showed no similar barrel scoring or patterning matching the weapons found at the Giblini and Vilson shootings.

A .22 caliber handgun was used in the murders of Valerie Vilson and Greg Giblini. A different weapon was used in each of the killings. Markings from the gun barrel appear on the bullet, leaving a unique fingerprint. The bullets from each crime scene were all printed. No matches were found.
